Pi-Star not talking to BrandMeister
After updating the software in my Pi-Star it would not send my location. After double checking many settings and using the Live Logs I determined that my Pi-Star was not communicating to BrandMeister (login to the master has failed, retrying network...).
From what I can see the update set a password for the hotspot under DMR Configuration, Hotspot Security. This needs to match the password on BranMeister for the hotspot. In BrandMeister under Selfcare Settings set Hotspot Security to On then enter a password. Then go back to the Pi-Star Configuration and enter the same password under DMR Configuration, Hotspot Security. I then went back to the Live Logs and the error was gone. I then went to aprs.fi and was able to see the icon for my Pi-Star. Not a hard fix, but it took a while to get to the answer.
Weather Station Uploading to APRS
I have a La Crosse weather station from Sam's Club. Through some software from La Crosse it is connected to Weather Underground. To get my data from Weather Underground to APRS I run a software called Weather Display. I Weather Display Stationless using an API Key from Weather Underground. This has worked with an interval of every 10 seconds until this year.
Without pointing out who made changes and who I think is responsible for making so my readings to APRS had flatlined I will tell you that over time I noticed that if I changed the interval the number of hours that were reported to APRS changed. Eventually, I came up with a working theory that I am only allowed so many data downloads per day. My guess is about 1700. So to get the data to flow all the time I took the number of seconds in a day or 86,400 seconds and divided by my 1700 to get 50.82 seconds. I have set my interval to 50 seconds and so far the data is grabbed from Weather Underground and sent to APRS through the Weather Display software.
